My Resume
(January 2021)
Hello, I'm Jacob Thompson! I'm a student, athlete, and photographer at Clemson University.

I have been interested in photography since around 2012, and I got my first DSLR in 2014. I am completely self-taught, through trial and error, reading hundreds of pdf's and articles about photography, and lots of experimentation. I have no intentions to pursue photography professionally, instead I hope to keep it a lifelong hobby.

I enjoy many different "styles" of photography including landscapes, portraits, light-painting, macro, architecture, and sports photography. I am a member of Clemson's photography club, and through that group I have had the opportunity to shoot college football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, tennis, and soccer games from the sidelines. My work with the photography club helped me get a job with the Clemson Athletic Department Media team as a photographer, where I get paid to shoot official sporting events.

I am majoring in Electrical Engineering at Clemson, and I plan to graduate in May of 2020. I enjoy tinkering with Arduino and other hobby electronics such as Raspberry Pi. You can read about some of my projects on the projects page.

During Spring 2019 I'll complete my 4th co-op rotation with JR Automation as a Controls Engineer. I do a variety of programming in Visual Studio and Excel along with HMI development and 6-axis robot teaching during my time with JR. Summer 2019 I will probably be working at Eastman Chemical Company.

Eventually I hope to work with some kind of cutting-edge technology, specifically with self-driving cars, renewable energy, or space. I've been fascinated with all three of those subjects for several years and I hope that I can take my professional career in one of those directions. So if anyone reading this is a recruiter for a space/energy/AI company, contact me!
